Howell Island Wildlife Area (via Chesterfield Airport Road). This is tough to get to, especially in high water, but the deer may be worth it.

KATY Trail. Missouri River views, from Machens to Augusta and beyond. Missourians
are blessed by the vision of EdwardJones, the Legislature, Department of Natural
Resources and all the volunteers who have used the "rails to trails" law in just the way it was intended.

Portage des Sioux. "Blessing of the Fleet," Alton Lake, marinas, bike ride from West
Alton. This is flat country that floods. Along with Carlyle lake, one of the few sailing opportunities near St.Louis.
