H.E.A.T. - Help Eliminate Auto Theft
A coordinated effort of the City of St. Louis and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department will put the HEAT on auto theft. Citizens of the City of St. Louis can Help Eliminate Auto Theft by participating in an auto theft deterrence program called H.E.A.T.
Participating residents can place two - 5 x 2 inch H.E.A.T. Program decals on their vehicle, identifying it as not normally driven between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., allowing police to stop the vehicle and check ownership during that time.
A significant number of vehicles are stolen during the early morning hours when the owners are asleep and unaware of the theft. It could be used to commit additional crimes or be driven at dangerously high speed, putting innocent lives in jeopardy.
Thieves want to avoid being noticed. The purpose of the H.E.A.T. Program is to focus the attention of law enforcement on those vehicles not routinely driven during the early morning hours. The H.E.A.T. Program enables a proactive investigation before an auto theft is even reported.
To enroll in the H.E.A.T. Program, print the following two pages (in Adobe Acrobat PDF format), which contain important Terms and Conditions and the Registration Form. 1. Thoroughly review and sign the Program Terms and Conditions and the Registration Form 2. Include a Self addressed Stamped Standard Size Envelope 3. Mail each to the H.E.A.T. Program address on the Registration Form.
Two decals with placement instructions, and a copy of your registration form will be mailed to you.
