Stationary Engineer

$42,458.00 $57,902.00
Normal entry salary is $42,458. A shift differential is paid to full-time employees working evening and night shifts. A commuting allowance is paid to employees of Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.

Nature of Work
This is skilled mechanical work operating steam powered plants or electrified pumping units (4600 H.P.) and related equipment in two large pumping stations. Duties may include maintaining records of operation, meter readings, minor supervisory responsibilities, and related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Stationary Engineer’s License (Class I) issued by the City of St. Louis; AND, two years of recent full-time paid experience in the operation of high pressure boilers, chillers in excess of 500 tons, building automation system operation and knowledge of emergency generators. PROOF OF (CLASS I) LICENSE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THE EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION. DRIVER’S LICENSE: Possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of filing application. Must maintain a valid Missouri Driver’s License while employed by the City of St. Louis. Please note kind of license, number, class and expiration date on the employment application or attach a copy of your driver’s license with the application.

DRIVING RECORD: Driving records will be checked. Candidates must have demonstrated by their previous driving record the ability to operate a motor vehicle in a lawful, safe and cautious manner.

CHARACTER INVESTIGATION: All candidates must authorize the release of Police Records of convictions. Applicants who have unsatisfactory records of convictions or current charges pending on such offenses will be eliminated from consideration for this position. Failure to list on application any conviction or current charges pending (including traffic violations) will result in the applicant’s disqualification.

Candidates will be required to pass a “Drug Screen Test” as part of the medical examination procedure.
