Normal entry salary is $35,880.

Nature of Work
This is responsible technical work in administering complex emergency medical care to critically ill or injured patients prior to or while being transported in a life support vehicle. The St. Louis Fire Department is a 24-hour per day, seven days a week service; therefore, work often involves shift, weekend and holiday assignments. A shift differential is paid for evening and night shifts. Please indicate on the Employment Application (Availability Section) if you are willing to accept a part-time position. The current rate of pay is $19.05.

Minimum Qualifications
Licenses: Applicants must possess the following:

• current EMT-P License, and at time of appointment, must possess a State of Missouri EMT-P License;

• currently certified in Advance Cardiac Life Support through the American Heart Association;

• a valid driver's license (note kind of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application).

COPIES OF ALL THREE ITEMS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THE APPLICATION OR AT THE TIME OF THE ORAL INTERVIEW.

The Performance Test is designed to measure the applicant's ability to perform emergency medical procedures under simulated conditions. This will involve several test components including applicant demonstration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques in accordance with current standards of the American Heart Association.
