Call-A-Ride. a program operated by the Bi-State Development Agency, provides PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FOR THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED, throughout St. Louis City and County, on a demand-response basis. In the City and close-in portions of St. Louis County, only residents with disabilities holding a "Call-A-Ride Plus" identification card are eligible to use the service.

Christmas in April. Metro St. Louis is an affiliate of a national volunteer organization which revitalizes neighborhoods in partnership with the community by REHABILITATING THE HOUSES OF LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS, particularly the ELDERLY AND THE DISABLED, so that they may continue to live independently in comfort and safety. Services are provided at NO COST to the homeowner. Christmas in April also renews neighborhoods by rebuilding community centers, playgrounds and other community projects.

Saint Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired. is an organization providing services to help individuals who are BLIND OR VISUALLY IMPAIRED remain independent. Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Division of Special Education. assists school districts in establishing and improving services for children with disabilities. It also operates the MISSOURI SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF (Fulton), MISSOURI SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND (St. Louis), STATE SCHOOLS FOR THE SEVERELY HANDICAPPED (Regionally located), and Sheltered Workshops. Staff members work with other state and local agencies to coordinate the FIRST STEPS PROGRAM, which provides early intervention services for infants and toddlers with disabilities. The division also works with local school districts to improve services for students (ages 3-21) with disabilities.
