Employment Connection. offers several programs to ASSIST PERSONS WITH LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES to self-sufficiency through employment. The Competitive Employment Program has a special emphasis ON SERVING FORMER OFFENDERS, substance abusers, welfare recipients and their families. The "World of Work" is a two-day seminar that teaches the "ins and outs" of finding and keeping a job. They also assist clients with the preparation of their resumes and offer monthly job fairs.

Legal Advocates for Abused Women. LAAW is a local domestic violence organization in the greater St. Louis area that provides crisis intervention and support, legal information and advocacy, safety planning, and legal and social service referrals for victims of abuse (primarily low income women and their children) who have been battered, stalked or harassed. In addition, LAAW specializes in providing free legal representation at Order of Protection hearings for low income victims of abuse.

Missouri Crime Victims Compensation Fund. This unit, funded by the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, is responsible for assisting victims who have suffered PHYSICAL HARM AS A RESULT OF VIOLENT CRIME or, in the case of death, assisting their dependents. The main purpose is to assist victims of violent crimes through a period of financial hardship as a payor of last resort. COMPENSATION includes MEDICAL COSTS, WAGE LOSS, PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING, FUNERAL EXPENSES and support for dependent survivors to a maximum limit of $15,000 where the victim has no other source of reimbursement.
