Christmas in April. Metro St. Louis is an affiliate of a national volunteer organization which revitalizes neighborhoods in partnership with the community by REHABILITATING THE HOUSES OF LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS, particularly the ELDERLY AND THE DISABLED, so that they may continue to live independently in comfort and safety. Services are provided at NO COST to the homeowner. Christmas in April also renews neighborhoods by REBUILDING COMMUNITY CENTERS, PLAYGROUNDS AND OTHER COMMUNITY PROJECTS.

Habitat for Humanity St. Louis. BUILDS HOUSES WITH LOW-INCOME FAMILIES which are sold to those families at no profit and with no interest mortgages. Families WHO COULD NOT QUALIFY FOR A CONVENTIONAL MORTGAGE, perhaps for the first time, become homeowners. Program participants are selected based on need, willing to partner and their ability to repair the cost of the house. As their down payment, each family is required to work a minimum of 450 hours on their home.

The Action Outreach Program offers direct food, clothing and referrals to homeless individuals on the streets. Justine Petersen Housing & Reinvestment Corporation (JPHRC). This organization HELPS LOW- AND MODERATE-INCOME FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS BUY HOMES AND BUILD FINANCIAL ASSETS for the long term. Low Income Home Energy Assistance. The Missouri Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is part of the Family Support Division of the Dept. of Social Services. This programs is designed to provide financial assistance to help pay heating bills for Missourians during the months of October, November, December, January, February, and March.
