Youth Development
Youth Development Work Groups

Eight work groups were established to develop goals, strategies and benchmarks, as well as connect existing assets to this effort. These work groups consist of the following:

Youth Engagement -- Engage youth in creating solutions so they can successfully complete school and go to work

Data -- Identify current conditions of drop-outs in City of St. Louis. Identify data points and employ technology necessary to Create shared data systems and online services that connect youth and service providers. Develop measurements to track success of collaborative.

Creating a Youth Focused Community --- Build support in the home and neighborhood for alternative educational pathways and belief in "second chances" for disengaged youth. Create communities that expect all youth to graduate and enter the workforce.

Connecting Services -- Identify, catalog and align existing services for out-of-school youth. Build knowledge of available resources among and between service providers. Create strategies to fill gaps in services. Identify how services are accessed.

Multiple Pathways -- Identify, create and expand educational pathways that will result in high school graduation and post-secondary education, training or employment for out-of-school youth, those returning from court supervision and those at risk of leaving school.

Beyond High School -- Provide access to post-secondary education and training as a strategy for high school completion.

Training and Professional Development -- Build core competencies of youth workers to effectively serve older teens and disconnected youth.

Build a Cross-Collaborative System -- Create a collaborative system across community groups and city, school and state agencies to respond to the needs of out-of-school youth and their families.
