Sherman Associates, the Minneapolis-based developer of the Syndicate Trust building, has the Jefferson Arms building under contract. The thirteen story building is set to be converted into a mix of market-rate and low-income apartments. There will be 126 elderly and 192 family low-income apartments.
The Jefferson Arms building was originally a 400-room hotel built to accommodate visitors to the 1904 World's Fair. An addition was built in 1928 that brought the hotel's room count up to 910. For decades, the hotel was host to a who's who list of visitors to St. Louis, including President Harry S. Truman. The 1916 Democratic National Convention also was held at the building.
