In 2000, the Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis opened. The institute is a joint venture of BJC Health System and HealthSouth in conjunction with the Washington University School of Medicine. The institute is located at the corner of Forest Park Boulevard and Taylor Avenue. It has 80 beds and offers special care for people with spinal cord injuries and brain injuries as well as treatement for strokes and other diseases that cause neurological damage.
