The old Franklin School, located at the corner of 19th and Delmar, has been sold to developers Peter Rothschild and Robert Wood. The developers plan converted the building into 75 one-bedroom apartments for active seniors.
The building is culturally significant for the vocational programs it housed from its early years as the Franklin Intermediate School for White Children from 1911 through its years as Booker T. Washington Vocational High School for African-Americans beginning in 1934.
