Now the Centene Center for Arts & Education, the building supplies performance space for artists and various art organizations, such as HotCity Theatre, Circus Flora, and St. Louis African Chorus.
The 42,000 square foot four story building's south facade is decorated with cast iron and with white glazed terra cotta on the upper three floors. Part of the building dates from the 1880s when it was a dance academy, and the building was expanded in 1907 for the Knights of Columbus, which built the gothic facade. The International Association of Machinists union purchased the building in 1952. It was vacant by the 1970s. Some years later it was bought by the Medinah Temple, a fraternal organization, which sold the property to Grand Center in 1991.
