Built to replace the Vaughn public housing complex on the North side of downtown, Murphy Park is a mixed-income development. Fifty-five percent of the units are set aside for those with low incomes, and units contain two to four bedrooms. Phase two was completed in September of 2000, adding 127 units in buildings that used the same styles and features as phase one. The complex has a number of amenities, available to all tenants, including a 15-meter community swimming pool, three parks, a day-care center, gated parking, security systems, central air, washers, dryers, dishwashers and garbage disposals.

Phase three, a $20,000,000 project, has 126 mixed income rental units on the north side and Cass.

McCormack Baron also manages the property, and has strict qualifications, including having credit in good standing, no record of a felony conviction within the last five years, and a satisfactory home visit.
