McCormack Barron Salazar is working with the St. Louis Housing Authority to transform the Blumeyer Housing Complex, located in the Covenant Blu neighborhood known as the "Renassiance on Grand" The $166 million project includes garden and townhouse style apartments for 465 families with mixed incomes. The plan will also provide housing for the elderly and disabled and restores much of the street pattern that was removed by the existing complex. The initial plan, worth $25 million, calls for renovation of half of the existing 1,162 apartments, with hope to complete all units in the future.
The Housing Authority received a $35 million Hope VI grant award for the redevelopment. Forty percent of the units will be designated for residents receiving public housing assistance, one-third will go to residents with low income tax credit status and the final third will be market-rate.
