This historic building underwent a $35 million renovation as the centerpiece of Old Post Office Square. The rededication ceremony was held March 15, 2006.

The building’s below ground floors and part of the first floor serve as Webster University’s downtown campus, relocated and expanded from smaller quarters at the Lammert Building, 911 Washington Ave.

The third and fourth floors house the Missouri Court of Appeals.

The first floor also features a Pasta House Pronto! restaurant, mini-branch of the St. Louis Public Library, dubbed Downtown Express.

The building also houses offices of the St. Louis Business Journal and the local office of Teach for America, as well as various state offices such as the Missouri Attorney General, Missouri Arts Council, and the Department of Health and Senior Services.

A 1,050-space parking garage is under construction in place of the Century Building just to the west. It will serve users of the renovated Post Office and the general public.

Originally known as the U.S. Custom House and Post Office, this historically significant building was designed by Alfred B Mullet and completed in 1884. Its purpose was to house all Federal offices in the growing city, but over the last century it has served a variety of purposes.

The building was last renovated in the early 1980s under a public-private agreement coordinated by the General Services Administration.
