Headed by Steve Trampe of the Owen Development Corporation, this $28 million rehabilitation project includes residential, office, and commercial space. The financial package was complex, with a number of private and public sources.
Designed by architect William B. Ittner, the 23-story, art-deco Continental Building was built in 1929. The building housed the offices of the Continental Life Insurance Company, and the Grand National Bank. It was vacant for many years.
Rehabilitation resulted in over 100 apartments; 7,000 square feet for office space and a conference room; a first floor restaurant; and a connecting 200-car parking garage with a swimming pool and bocce courts on top.
The first apartments were occupied in August, 2003.
