Arrest

Police, after investigation, place a person under arrest so that the person is no longer free to leave a scene or police station. The officer then must apply for warrants at the prosecutor’s office within 20 hours of the arrest. An officer seeking charges for City of St. Louis ordinance violations applies to the City Counselor’s Office. If seeking State charges, the officer applies to the Circuit Attorney’s Office.
