St. Louis Development Corporation assists neighborhood and commercial districts in setting up and operating business associations.
Each district is assigned to an SLDC commercial district manager, who works with the local aldermen to provide assistance to businesses like marketing help, facade and sidewalk repairs, new awnings, trash cans, and street furniture.
The commercial district manager also serves as a liaision for businesses to access city services.
In a few cases, business associations have chosen to establish Special Business Districts (SBDs) or Community Improvement Districts (CIDs) which levy a special tax in their service areas. In return, these special tax districts provide services like security, marketing and cleaning to the business districts. This is the case in the downtown area, on South Grand, Cherokee Street, Baden, and a few other areas.
Some of the business district associations in the City of St. Louis include:
Baden Market Square
South Kingshighway (Southtown)

Dr. Martin Luther King Dr. (several districts)
