Building Plan Guidelines

When applying for a building permit, you will need to provide a rough sketch of the current structural layout, and the proposed improvements. The Building Division provides general guidelines, which you can use to draw your plan.

The Plan Examiner will give more detailed information or correct your plans, if necessary.

While major changes to a structure will in most cases require drawings with an architect's or engineer's seal, some improvements to existing structures can receive a permit based solely on a hand-drawn sketch.
