Each year, the Board of Aldermen and Board of Estimate & Apportionment go through an extensive budget process, with several opportunities for public comment. The final document is the result of this process that starts nearly one year before the document is released.

The City budget year is July 1 through June 30. However, some departments rely on grant funds that operate on calendar year and other budget cycles.
