African-American History

Various resources are available to research African-American history in St. Louis.

The Julius K. Hunter and Friends African-American History Research Collection at the St. Louis County Library Headquarters is a great resource.

The Black World History (Wax) Museum on St. Louis Avenue offers great insights into the African-American experience, both in St. Louis and throughout the nation.

The Ville Monument, at Sarah St. and Dr. Martin Luther King Dr., commemorates the history of the Ville neighborhood, the historic center of many prominent institutions in the African-American community such as the Annie Malone Children's Home, Sumner High School, and Homer G. Phillips Hospital.
