St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) offers year-round programs for youth between the ages of 16 and 21. With SLATE’s services, youth may get a job, train with a mentor, receive career counseling and provide other support services for youths.
Participating youths must meet certain requirements to be eligible. They must be a City of St. Louis resident, must be economically disadvantaged (based on proof of income) and must have one of the following characteristics: a school dropout, deficient in basic literary skills, a pregnant or parenting teen, an offender, homeless, a runaway, a foster child or an individual who needs assistance in completing an education program or finding and maintaining employment.
A variety of organizations provide year-round programs for youths through SLATE. Interested youth may apply to participate in a year-round program through any of the contractees listed on SLATE’s website.
The year-round program lasts from July 1 through June 30. Contractees have a specific number of youths that may enroll in each program.
