Looking for a Job

The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) is a free service for job seekers to gain valuable employment and training skills.

SLATE offers a wide range of services related to employment and careers including a Resource Center, Adult Education/GED classes, a Career Assistance Program, a year-round Youth Program and Unemployment Insurance. Visit their website for a list of phone numbers to contact the department for each of these services.

In order to take advantage of the services offered through SLATE, you must register at an orientation session held three times a week. Visit the website for days and times of these sessions. You must bring two forms of valid I.D. and a copy of your resume.

The Career Center offers workshops on Career Success Strategies and Resume Writing. Consult with your career specialist on enrolling in the next workshop.

The Career Center also offers job clubs on various topics throughout the year. Speak with your career specialist if you are interested in attending a current job club.

Visit the SLATE website for a calendar of job fairs that will be held in the area. When attending a job fair, you should dress professionally and bring several copies of your resume.
