Red Light Cameras and Tickets

In the City of St. Louis, the fine is $100 for running a red light. To pay a ticket, you must mail payment or bring it in person to 1430 Olive Street, Room 100, St. Louis, MO 63103. Payment must be in the form of check or money order if you are mailing it. If you bring it in person, you may pay by cash, check, credit card or money order.

The red light cameras take a photograph of the license plate when a car enters an intersection once the light has turned red. If you are already in the intersection when the light turns red, you will not receive a ticket.

If you have run a red light, you will receive a first and final notice of violation. Once the video of the incident is reviewed and approved, the first notice will be sent. Payment will be due 30 days after the issue date of the citation.

A second notice will be sent one day after the deadline for payment if payment has not yet been received. The final notice will have a court date on it in at which time payment will be due. You may appear in court on this date if you wish to contest the violation. You will not receive points on your driving record for receiving a ticket.

If you have been issued a citation and you were not driving the vehicle at the time of the violation, you may complete the Affidavit of Non-Responsibility on the back of the violation notice where you will be asked to give the name of the driver operating the vehicle at the time of the violation.

Red light cameras are located throughout the City and continue to be installed at intersections. At intersections where the red light has only recently been installed, drivers who run a red light will only receive a warning and payment will not be required.

View the PDF file on the right to find out where red light cameras have been or will be installed.

You may search a database of the red light cameras and other photo enforcement cameras through the website on the right. This database is compiled by citizens who encounter photo enforcement cameras and submit their location to this website, therefore, the list may be incomplete.

If you would like to view the video footage from the camera, you may click on the link to the right to view it by entering your violation number and pin number. You may also go to the courthouse at 1430 Olive Street to view it.
