Death Certificates
The Recorder of Deeds Vital Records Office issues certified copies of death certificates dating from 1870 to Present. Also available are statewide birth records death records dating from 1980 to Present. You may apply for a Certified Death Certificate either in person (Room 124) or by mail (Room 126). Cost: $13.00 first copy, $10.00 for subsequent copies of same record. Cash or money order only. No personal checks. Money orders should be made payable to "Vital Records" or "Recorder of Deeds." If you are searching for information regarding a St. Louis city resident who has passed away without family, did not leave a last will and testament, and/or was an indigent member of the community, please contact the Public Administrator's Office. If the decedent was a veteran of U.S. Armed Forces or spouse of a veteran, you may search online at Nationwide Veterans Gravesite Locator.
